My name is Carly Spina and I am the EL/Bilingual Instructional Coach for Glenview District 34. I have 12 years of teaching experience. For five years I was an EL teacher for grades 3-5. The following six years, I was a third grade teacher in our Bilingual (English/Spanish) program at Hoffman. Within that time, I worked with my team to develop a Title 1 tutoring program called ARC (Awesome Reading Club). I also collaborated with my team to create a parent education program called MAPA (Maestros, Alumnos, y Padres Avanzando). I'm in my second year of coaching!
My professional passions include EL Education, Bilingual Education, Parent Outreach and Education, Flexible Seating, and Social Media in the Classroom.
I am available to meet with individual teachers and teams in strengthening practices around Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment related to English learners in District 34. I would love to work with you! Here are some ways I can support you this school year:
*Aligning content & WIDA standards
*Understanding ACCESS scores and proficiency levels
*Level 1s/2s on your roster
*SIOP support
*CoTeaching support
*Levels 3s/4s on your roster
*Problem Solving/MTSS with ELs
*Levels 5s (“exited” students) on your roster
*EL instructional strategies
*SEL support with ELs
*Science/Writing Units with ELs (finding resources, modifications, planning for instruction)
*Parent Education and Parent Outreach
*Supporting ELs with Academic Language
My office is located at Springman Middle School. My extension is 2141 and my e-mail address is [email protected]. Find me on Twitter @MrsSpinasClass. I'm looking forward to working with you this school year!
