Intermediate StrategiesWordGen is a great online resource for interdisciplinary units complete with teacher and student materials. There are academic language focus words that students can manipulate to develop a deeper understanding of their meaning. This is great for fourth and fifth grade students, but may be too high for third graders.

There are oracy opportunities to engage in debate along with academic language "focus words" to interact with. 1. Linguistically simplify reading texts by utilizing technology.
